How do people justify guilt-free pleasure? In this episode of Consumer Perspective Michelle Niedziela, behavioral neuroscientist and founder of Nerdoscientist, uses potato chips as an example to explain Behavioral Topic Modeling, a tool that reveals patterns such as permission structures (protein or “baked” claims used to justify pleasure without guilt), contextual trade-offs (choosing healthier chips for lunch at work or after the gym), and rituals/habits (weekend indulgence, single-serve bags for portion control, premium for guests vs. value for everyday use). These patterns show that consumers look for “the right chip for the moment,” not a single perfect product.
This and more in the latest episode of the Podcast ‘Consumer Perspective’, titled “Beyond Consumer Trends“ – hosted by Michelle Niedziela, behavioral neuroscientist and founder of Nerdoscientist.
