CENTEXTRA®: the next-generation centella indena phytosome® for firm, elastic, and restored skin
The dermis constantly signals our internal health, but stressors like UV radiation and aging compromise its integrity. Crucial to this structure is collagen, but its natural production declines from age 25, leading to wrinkles and fragile skin. To prevent this deterioration safely, consumers and professionals seek natural ingredients that reactivate endogenous collagen.

Centella asiatica L. is highly effective here. Its active triterpenoids (madecassoside, asiaticoside, madecassic and asiatic acids) are scientifically proven to promote collagen synthesis, support healing, modulate inflammation, and boost microcirculation.

However, centella’s efficacy is often limited by poor solubility and absorption. To overcome this, Indena applied its Indena Phytosome® delivery system, which keeps the beneficial triterpenes intact and highly absorbable, resulting in the advanced ingredient CENTEXTRA®.

At cellular level, CENTEXTRA® demonstrated superior biological activity than unformulated centella extract, showing enhanced antioxidant action, wound-healign efficacy, collagen level restoration (1).

A recently completed human study conducted by Indena (manuscript in preparation) demonstrated CENTEXTRA®’s superior effectiveness compared to placebo. The main endpoints are:

  • wrinkles depth in crow’s feet area: – 11 % after 28 days, – 16 % after 84 days;
  • skin elasticity: + 3 % after 28 days, + 5 % after 84 days;
  • skin firmness: + 3 % after 28 days, + 7 % after 84 days;
  • skin thickness: + 1.8 µm after 28 days, + 2.2 µm after 84 days.

Overall, the study results show that, thanks to CENTEXTRA®, the skin gets more elastic, has fewer wrinkles, and is firmer and healthier. Moreover, Indena measured the wrinkle depth at each experimental monitored time and calculated the corresponding ages by fitting the “reference data” from the CRO archives. The evidence shows that CENTEXTRA® takes the skin back in time: its appearance looks five years younger after three months of intake.

CENTEXTRA® means also sustainability: its starting biomass is responsibly sourced from Madagascar and Sardinia via sustainable supply chains, with careful attention to minimizing impact on local communities.

CENTEXTRA®, the innovative Centella Indena Phytosome®, stimulates collagen production, contributing to thicker, smoother, and more radiant skin – truly promoting healthier and restored skin for longer. It represents a significant advancement in the holistic management of skin aging processes.

The Longevity Paradigm: Healthy Appearance as a Reflection of Internal Vitality
The success of CENTEXTRA® aligns with a global demographic shift: by 2050, the population aged 60+ will double to 2.1 billion. This has redefined aging, shifting the focus from lifespan to “healthspan”—maximizing years spent free from chronic disease (2). Moreover, the global anti-aging market, valued at USD 67.5 billion in 2023, is projected for substantial growth as consumers seek sophisticated products targeting the biological mechanisms of aging (3).

In this evolving landscape of health expectations, Indena stands as a pioneering force: beyond CENTEXTRA® the company offers a robust portfolio of specific natural ingredients, each meticulously validated through rigorous scientific studies.

PUREBKALE®: purification, a foundation of health
PUREBKALE® is an innovative food-grade extract designed to support the body’s detoxification processes and foster healthy-looking skin. Through meticulous screening of Brassica oleracea seed samples, known for their beneficial metabolites, Indena identified the optimal source for a uniquely high glucoraphanin concentration (≥17%). A clinical study showed that PUREBKALE® provides significant benefits for skin barrier integrity, dermal structure, and various skin parameters, establishing it as a viable healthy aging strategy for the skin (4). Sourced from a 100% Italian supply chain, PUREBKALE®’s raw material benefits from sustainable cultivation practices, ensuring superior biomass quality.

UBIQSOME®, CoQ10 Indena Phytosome®: energizes body function right from its cellular foundation, improving strength and performance
UBIQSOME® is a unique CoQ10-based ingredient. Thanks to Indena Phytosome® technology, it promotes efficient delivery of coenzyme Q10 to target cells. UBIQSOME® supports energy, significantly increasing muscle CoQ10 levels after 30 days of oral supplementation; skin health, being twice as efficient in delivering CoQ10 to human dermal fibroblasts compared to traditional CoQ10; cardiovascular health, improving endothelial function by +7% within 2 hours of administration and acting as an effective adjuvant to counteract statin side-effects which affect muscle strength and performance (5).

QUERCEFIT®, Quercetin Indena Phytosome®, supports cellular longevity to protect overall vitality, for timeless quality of life
QUERCEFIT® is a nutraceutical ingredient formulated with the Indena Phytosome® technology, enhancing the benefits of quercetin. Promoting longevity and healthspan, it helps the body mitigate cell damage and dysfunction, key factors behind physiological age-related decline and inflammatory processes. Indena’s scientific research supports QUERCEFIT® as a cellular longevity agent. A recent preclinical study using C. (Caenorhabditis) Elegans as a model organism showed significant results as for stress resistance (heat, oxidative stress), life span & health span and senescence markers (6).
