Advancing Microbiome Science with Precision and Purpose

by

The 18th International Scientific Conference on Probiotics, Prebiotics, Gut Microbiota and Health (IPC 2025) took place in Athens from June 24–26, 2025, at the Royal Olympic Hotel. Gathering approximately 300 participants from academia, industry, and regulatory bodies, IPC 2025 provided a focused, high-impact platform for driving progress in microbiome research.

Renowned for its scientific rigor, IPC distinguishes itself from commercial expos by emphasizing cutting-edge, evidence-based content. This year’s program featured nearly 70 oral presentations and short talks, alongside close to 100 posters. Topics spanned next-generation probiotics, live biotherapeutic products, postbiotics, and the integration of artificial intelligence in microbial strain development and selection.

Clinical research was a central theme, with applications covering metabolic disorders, cognitive and immune health, as well as maternal and infant well-being. These focus areas underscored the increasing importance of microbiome-based strategies in both preventive and therapeutic medicine.

The conference offered a dynamic structure, combining plenary lectures, targeted symposia, an engaging poster exhibition, and robust networking opportunities. A standout moment was the “Scientific Battle”—a lively debate exploring the evolving definitions and regulatory challenges of probiotic products. Expert contributions from top global researchers and policy specialists enriched the discussion on scientific and regulatory alignment.

IPC 2025 upheld its tradition of fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, making it a vital meeting ground for scientists, clinicians, biotech innovators, and regulators. The compact, focused format enabled deep scientific engagement and meaningful professional connections.

By remaining true to its core mission of scientific excellence while addressing the latest developments and challenges in the field, IPC 2025 reaffirmed its status as a cornerstone event in microbiome science. For professionals shaping the future of probiotics, prebiotics, and gut health, IPC continues to serve as an essential forum for knowledge exchange, standard-setting, and innovation.
